It is a useful model because it is quite simple to understand, and yet has interesting dynamics. The model shown here allows the pendulum to swing through any angle and includes the effect of damping on the pivot, and an external impulse. The drawings of the angle vs. velocity are very interesting but not included in the drawings (so you can experiment and be surprised yourself). This model works with the trial and full editions of SimApp.
